Sky News: Breaking, UK & World App Reviews

I love the news articles, but no live feed. The live feed is not working. I would have preferred that they kept the old app, just for it actually worked for me.

live feed is not present on both ipad and iphone despite having the tab. please install as live sky news is so worthwhile.

I have been using the old app for at least a year or more in the US to get live feed on iPad. The new app looks nice, but live feed is not working in the States. Did they stop live feed folks not actually in UK? Please fix it. Guess Ill have to use browser again.

Why cant I watch the live feed outside UK? Sky News is available on TVs around the world and even on LiveStation. So why not on Sky News own app?!? Ridiculous.

What happened to the live feed?

Im with everyone else, here. Wheres the live feed? I would recommend bringing that back. Its the reason I use the app. Otherwise, its just another news app.

Very disappointing this app has no live streaming. This was my go-to news app but now just another news app. At least BBC has a live audio app for those interested in UK and world news.

The app works well on iPhone except the Live feed wont load. Video articles play ok. Live on Roku is good, so why doesnt this app work Live.

Live feed still not working with latest update 8/10/2016... Thats a shame or else itd be a 5 star.

Live Video does not work in US , better to get the BBC App at least its live feed works !

Since this is available in the US and I see no disclaimer that live feed will not work in the US I am shocked this has not been fixed yet after months of release. Love watching the live feed in the US but now have to resort to the website and makes this app useless for me especially considering the old app worked.

News feeds do not load

Still get an error, "Problem loading video, tap to retry." Sent an email to the feedback address, got a mailbox full reply.

No idea why Sky News didnt enforce basic Quality Assurance with a product with their brand on it. Live news video doesnt work, as mentioned in other reviews. If you care about timely UK news video, go elsewhere.

Fairly good app. Live news broadcast feature doesnt work. It keeps asking you to tap too reload.

Love Sky News. Read it every day. Even the format is better than BBC’s.

A 1 min video for a news article consists of a 30 second advert before the actual news! This takes the ****

The Apple TV version of the app has completely stopped working with TVOS 18.3. Badly needs fixing.

Since your alliance with American media outlet NBC News, I have observed a perceptible and regrettable decline in objectivity at SKY.

Would rather have the old Sky News any day . Don’t like the new way it is set out at all . Far too many ads and for some strange reason your news articles are very poor and not worth reading at the moment . Very disappointed. Regards Irene Thomson

Normally I would give the app of five. But since the new app redesign, there is no longer a search capability. It makes it difficult to find exactly what you would like to read about! Please add search capabilities back into the app - Thank you for your prompt attention!

The recent upgrades in December 2024 were a massive step backwards, making the site hard to read and useless to use. There is now less content, too much clutter and photos. Please restore older versions that were much more streamlined and easy to read stories. Until then, I’ll use other news sources.

Recent UX upgrade is poor. Recommend not downloading till they’d fix that. Stories are repeat ed on the Home Screen. Organization is jumbled and confusing. Not as bad as the BBC UX which remains a joke. Google news anyone?

Skynews, why don’t you have closed captioning on your app? You should have closed captioning! I like watching the news on Sky BUT my wife can’t hear it. We need closed captioning to work on the AppleTV in your app. I don’t have a problem with any other AppleTV app. That’s why only 2 stars!

Rita Panahi has one of the Best News Blocks from Australia! She is awesome and I would love to see more of her on your app. I’m able to catchup on YouTube, but it would be great to have all clips available via this app!🇦🇺🇺🇸

The old adage - if it’s not broken don’t fix it applies here. The new layout is terrible. Much preferred when news wasn’t all on one page and you could swipe left and right between the new categories. Now it’s just terrible and I rarely use it because don’t like the layout.

Like reading different news articles from around the globe, but, it definitely leans one way when it comes to US politics….keep an open mind.

I tried to make this one of my go to apps for honest news but it turned out that they don’t actually do any investigation into what they’re fed by the left. It’s so sad that they think they’re doing journalism when all they do is quote what they’re told instead of investigating!

The font is way to small and not adjustable … take a lead from bbc app. Although it too is not adjustable it’s at least readable. Thanks

Completely wrecked the simple usability of being able to swipe between categories by forcing you to click in the bottom corner and select from a many instead. Bad move from a UX perspective.

All of a sudden, this so-called “news” site brings us a supposed update that shuts down everything! I am removing it from my device!

I used to love having the sky news app on my phone. However, at some point a while ago, the ability to receive notifications disappeared. I know that it still works on android. However, I have a iPhone 13 and I am not able to receive any notifications or turn on notifications.

The news room must be an echo chamber of liberal voices. News used to be unbiased and factual.

Scroll through any report and you'll find a half dozen embedded Outbrain (or similar) ads to ridiculous topics that have nothing to do with what you're reading. Use the browser version with an ad blocker and it all goes away...to just news.

While live streaming works, carousel of stories is at least 5 days old on Apple TV app. Please fix!!!!

There is no way to search for a subject. Currently the top news is Gaza; some of us still want to read the Ukraine latest. Since those stories aren’t in the feed there’s no way to find them. Thank you.

The Sky News app has great content, navigation, and presentation—but it doesn’t work. You need to deliver on the basic functions, like getting the sound and video synchronized! Live streaming on the app is constantly going out of sync with the screen and sound not matching at all (not worrying about slight lip synch problems here). Also would be much improved if the app would allow users to set text size and video feed resolution/data consumption.

Watch it everyday and I live in the USA

Why has the app recently started geo-fencing!? If I’m out of the UK, I can’t see the news without switching on my VPN… Otherwise, the app is fine as it is (for me).

Hey Sky News, your news coverage is great but horribly marred by myriad typos all over your stories. It is virtually impossible to find a piece without a typo. Why? It’s embarrassing, frankly. Everyone knows which is the worst-written news outlet in the UK - it’s infamous for it. Sky News’ viewers/readers, indeed the company itself, is being so let down by this coverage.

The news is unbiased and informative. You must employ individuals who think and work like Walter Conkrite.

My primary go to source for European and International news. Also appreciate the UK perspective on how the world is being affected and developed by the global economy and ever changing world social order. Keep up the good work!

I can watch the ad but never any video now. Just audio and it crashes a lot. You ruined one of my favorite apps for news

There were multiple issues recently with Sky New app when used on Apple TV. For several days in a row I was not able to neither stream nor play recorded videos. It seemed like app started playing selected content, but immediately switched do advertising. As of now those ads are the only content that I can watch.

This app is completely broken on the Apple TV. I used to watch regularly. Both clips and Live. It was great! But they have added targeted ads. US ads that appear to be regional. Now, I don’t begrudge the ads. I consume and Sky needs revenue to operate. Fair enough. BUT, the ads are breaking the app. In most cases, the ad plays and then goes back to the home screen without ever starting the content. It’s an endless loop. In a few cases, I can hear the news segment playing under the ad. Whatever the cause, the app is broken since the actual content is never delivered. Deleted on ATV. I’ll try again in a month to see if fixed.

The Sky News app on AppleTV has a major glitch: when you open the app, it goes to an advertisement (usually something local) and then , once the add has finished, it returns to the initial screen displaying the options to go live or select a report. This happens repeatedly. I tried deleting the app and downloading it again, to no avail. Please fix soon. This is my favorite news app to know what’s going on in the world.

Recently the US version has introduced a lot of ads. These are playing with the news report underneath and then the app crashes. Super annoying and now unwatchable

Sky recently updated apple TV app to play a commercial before allowing live TV. However this crashes the app at the end of the commercial. Love sky news please fix this asap

Do not download. It made my phone go dark. I deleted and it is still in dark mode no matter what i did w the setting

I love reading the latest articles on my Sky news app over a cup of coffee in the morning, it gives me a good insight into what’s happening around the world on a daily basis. Thank you Sky News for keeping people like me informed, excellent stuff!

This app used to be great, however with recent updates I now have to go through 4 steps to say no to cookies every single time I open this app. Please accept that I don’t want cookies and stop asking me!!!!!!!

Like Sky News however, My goodness upon the moment of download of the app…it’s all about making sure I did the Opt-Out’s, but the app obviously wasn’t having any of that…deleted.
